JOSHUA PERSKY GOT A JOB!

Remember Joshua Persky? He's the MIT grad who, after being laid off of his Wall Street job walked the streets of Manhattan wearing a sandwich board advertisement in an attempt to get hired. Well, guess what? He did! According to the December 9, 2008 peHub article titled, "Sandwich Board Job Hunter Gets Hired," it states that Joshua's stunt to generate media attention "worked," and has resulted in him securing a job at Weiser LLP, an accounting firm.

But what is it that "worked" for Joshua? If we find that out, we should bottle it and share it with those other 499,000 plus Americans who are also jobless. Sure, Joshua was able to get media attention, and that definitely helped... But I'm convinced that it wasn't the media alone that took Joshua over the top. It was what happened SURROUNDING (before, after and during ) the media's attention, that I believe helped Joshua to seal the deal. What was it? It was the oldest, greatest and most effective marketing tool in existence: Word of Mouth.

Joshua hit the streets...the word got out and Joshua went viral. People started talking and writing this heretofore unknown investment banker, and as the word was passed from person to person in chat rooms, on blogs, in forums... before long, Joshua started getting calls for interviews. Through the power of word of mouth, Joshua's story got out and the rest is now history.

Word of mouth marketing is not a new concept. In fact, it's the crux of what network marketing (MLM), is all about. If it is a legitimate network marketing company, it's not so much about "recruiting" as it is about sharing good news! You have a great company with a fantastic product or service that you offer the public. Your company offers you an unbelievable opportunity to earn a phenomenal salary paid in commissions and bonuses AND on top of everything else, you earn great perks. That's generally the kind of "good news" that's worth sharing, and that's why successful network marketing companies are so successful. Simply by sharing your opportunity with others who are in need of and in search of similar opportunities for themselves, you're able to help them AND build a great business for yourself. It's a WIN-WIN situation.

So the next time somebody approaches you about a network marketing opportunity, it might do you good to remember Joshua Persky and take a moment to listen. They may have something to share with you that will one day be as transformative for you as Joshua's word of mouth marketing has been for him.

Congratulations Joshua Persky! I'm glad you got hired. Your story is still being shared because it's a good one: an encouragement and an inspiration to many, including me and all my MLM business buddies.

Obama and McCain's VP Choice: How You Can Use Their Strategy

The Democratic Convention is over, and both Barack Obama and John McCain have made their VP choices. Barack Obama chose Joe Biden, a seasoned Washington insider, with a strong foreign policy background and criticized for talking too much. John McCain chose Sarah Palin, a young Alaskan governor that is hugely popular in her state but widely unknown and inexperienced. What were their choices based on? Will their system work for you as you make one of the biggest choices in your career: finding the right home based business opportunity?

No one really knows how McCain or Obama made their choice. Obviously, they both had teams to help them and all their choices were vetted. In the end, they chose the running mate that they believe will help them not only win the election in November, but also the person best suited to help them run the country.

Obama, somewhat weak in foreign policy, chose a well known statesman and veteran in the field. McCain, having a desire to win over the undecided Hillary and Independent voters, chose a female who he says is also a reformer. Both chose people who beefed up their credentials and helped to strengthen them where they were weak.

So how do you choose a homebased business that will do the same for you? Here are a few tips:

1. Determine your own strengths and weaknesses.
You want to choose a business that will build on your strengths and not only minimize but overcompensate for your weaknesses. For example, if you are strong in personal and human relations, but weak in being detail oriented, you want to choose a homebased business that requires you interface with the public, but one that doesn't require micro management or dealing with lots of financials or documentation.

2. List your favorites.
Make a list of the business ideas that pique your interest. There are literally thousands out there, so be sure to narrow your choices down to no more than five. Start broad, by category, and then begin to narrow your choices. Categorize your choices using a star system. For example, give one star to the business idea that seems to be the most fun. Give another star to the business idea that seems to be the most profitable. Give another star to the business idea with the lowest start up cost, and on and on.
The ones with the highest stars are the ones you want to begin your research on.

3. Evaluate your list.
To evaluate your list, you need to be objective. I suggest using the 15 Power Points of an Ideal Business scale that was devised by financial consultants and international bestselling authors, Dr. Denis Cauvier and Alan Lysaght. They say an ideal business opportunity should...

1. Sell to the masses.
2. Fulfill a fundamental need for many people.
3. Be low risk.
4. Provide the opportunity for ongoing passive income.
5. Require a low staff component.
6. Have a stable, growing, long-term demand.
7. Have low overhead costs.
8. Have low start-up costs.
9. Have a unique quality, making it difficult for competitors
to copy.
10. Have positive cash-flow and low inventory costs.
11. Have high profit margins and rates of return.
12. Have mimimal government regulation.
13. Be portable.
14. Be fun, challenging and satisfying for the business owner.
15. Provide an opportunity to uncover other money making
multiple streams of income (MSIs).

No doubt, the vetting process that Obama and McCain took Joe Biden and Sarah Palin through, had a similar checkpoint system. Until November, we won't really know how well they did in making their choice. Plus, as we know, while the VP choice may help (or even hurt) the real choice for who to vote for comes from the top, not the bottom, of the ticket. Still, by systematically using a process to identify a home based business opportunity, choosing well becomes a much easier process. Happy Hunting!

The Women of YTB at the 2008 Convention

A few days ago I returned from the YTB 2008 Convention. It was my first. The first year I joined YTB, I was too new to know that I even needed to go. The second year, because of excuses I gave myself, although Prince and I had planned to go, at the last minute, we changed our minds and didn't. This year, we went, and am I glad we did! It was absolutely AWESOME! From the YTBU Training classes that were taught by YTB Directors and Circle of Champions leaders, to the Convention Opening Ceremonies to the Sunday morning church services... we loved EVERYTHING! But the real highlight of the event, at least in my opinion, was the day that the Women of YTB were featured at the 2008 Convention. It was Girl Power at its BEST.

The YTB Women Came
They processed on stage in groups of five or 10 or 20 or more, but come they did! Women of all ages, all sizes, all races and all cultures. They were old and young, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, introvert and extrovert... you name it, they were a diverse group of women who, when they spoke (ane all did speak) they did so with passion and with POWER.

Never in my life have I seen so many women on one program from such diverse backgrounds speak so eloquently and from the heart about a company. YTB clearly has made a phenomenal impact on the lives and the DESTINIES of hundreds if not thousands of women and their families.

The YTB Women Shared

The women shared stories of heroism and courage and integrity and strength and there wasn't a dry eye in the Convention Center. Even men shed tears! As late as yesterday, I heard some men talking about how awesome "the women" were, so I asked them if any of them had wept. Without exception, those men admited that they had shed tears. It was nearly impossible not to!

The day opened with Chris Tomer (Coach's wife) sharing her heart and the struggles she experienced when Coach initially started YTB. They had given up EVERYTHING. It was clear that it had been a very painful and difficult time for her, but her love for Coach enabled her to offer silent and prayerful support. Later, after she began to really see the impact YTB was making, and after she started to meet the people who had joined YTB that her heart opened as did her arms to welcome the YTB family into her life.

The YTB Women are Strong & Powerful
Each of the women who spoke are YTB Directors, earning an average annual high six figure income, with many earning it monthly. Some are out-front and vocal all the time, and others remain primarily in the background as they give support to their husbands who are the true "builders" in YTB. No matter their position, all are POWERFUL and all have encountered and overcome untold challenges as they've climbed the ladder of success. One women in particular, whose story goes that she made it to the Level 1 Director spot while recovering from a mastectomy and undergoing chemotherapy. She said, "There were so many days that I didn't feel good. I could have stopped and had a pity party, but I decided that I would not quit. So I forced myself to stay the course... even through the pain and discomfort of chemo, and to continue to build my business." It was well worth it, she said, because as a Level 1 YTB Director, she now has paid medical insurance and a paid $150K life insurance policy, not to mention the money she earns!

The YTB Women are Absolute STARS
I am so proud of the Women of YTB. They are all stars and most recently, they have produced a book that tells many of their stories with an accompanying DVD that can be purchased from YTB for only $10. Trust me... is worth much more than that, and at $10 it feels like a steal! Whether or not you're in YTB, it's a great investment and it's a good read. If you have children, and girls in particular, it's simply a must have! The Women of YTB make me proud to be both a woman and a YTBer! Follow The Leader

Recently I've been thinking about the whole concept of "Follow the Leader" and what it has to do with being successful in business. If you think about it, the concept is first taught by parents and later, in grade school. Generally, one kid is distinguished from among the others as the leader. He or she will often be assigned to give instructions or direction to the rest of the class when the teacher is out of the room, and the class is expected to follow. You even see it in nature. Sheep always follow a leader, sometimes even to their detriment. When birds fly in formation, there is always a lone leader ahead of the flock, that all the other birds follow in near perfect form. Following the leader just makes sense.

Honestly, when I joined YTB, although subconsciously I know this, I had no thoughts about where the company fit among online travel MLM companies. Now, two years later, I'm happy that somehow, instinctively, without even being aware of it... I did join in fact... join the leader and now that I'm an insider, I am striving to emulate great leadership.

One of the greatest aspects of the YTB business and comp plan is that this "follow the leader" principle is built into the business plan to help ensure everyone's success. This is how it works: The PowerTeam is the highest paid position in YTB. In other words, it's where the money is. Every person who joins YTB is joining someone's PowerTeam. Now the PowerTeam leader is responsible to help each of his or her PowerTeam members, to also get into their PowerTeams. In other words, the leader lays out a plan for the members to follow, and if they do, they will be successful and get into their own PowerTeam where they too will begin to lead other followers.

Now, one great thing about this system is that when you join YTB, you have a motivated, built in coach who is ready and willing to lead you to success. Why? Because you are in their PowerTeam and this is where they earn the most. The more successful you are, the more money they make. So there is never a need for a person in his or her PowerTeam to ever need to buy leads. That motivated person who just joined their PowerTeam is the hottest lead they will ever find, and they -- too -- are eager to get into their PowerTeam.

Another great program that YTB offers aligned with the Follow The Leader principle is Coach's Corner. Coach's Corner is the next level after the PowerTeam where a person who has 30 active RTAs in his PowerTeam is personally coached to millionaire status by the founder and company leader, Coach J.Lloyd Tomer. Coach personally mentors the people in Coach's Corner, and that alone is an honor but the perks and benefits that Coach's Corner members receive are also wonderful.

A while ago I read an article about the difference between winners and losers I found at crisel.multiply.com, and its a concept has always been intriguing to me. I believe that there is a real connection between people who are known to be "winners", and "leaders". So, in my version (below) I replaced the words winners with "leaders" Read what the author has to say:

1) Leaders are always part of the answer, the loser is always part of the problem.
2) Leaders always have a program, the loser always has an excuse.
3) The leader says, " Let me do it for you", the loser says, "That is not my job".
4) The leader sees an answer for every problem, the loser sees a problem for every answer.
5) The leader says" It may be difficult but it is possible", the loser says" It may possible but it is difficult.
6) When a leader makes a mistakes he says," I was wrong"; when a loser makes a mistakes, he says, it wasnt my fault.
7) A leader makes commitments, a loser makes promises.
8) Leaders have dreams, Losers have schemes.
9) Leaders say, I must do something", Losers says something must be done.
10) Leaders are part of the team, Losers are apart from the team.
11) Leaders see the gain, Losers see the pain.
12) Leaders see the possibilities, Losers see the problem.
13) Leaders believe in a win-win, Losers believe for them to win someone has to lose.
14) Leaders see the potential, Losers see the past.
15) Leaders are like thermostats, losers are like thermometers.
16) Leaders choose what they say: Losers say what they choose.
17) Leaders use hard arguments but soft words; Losers use soft arguments but hard words.
18) Leaders stand firm on values but compromise on petty things: Losers stand firm on petty things but compromise on values.
19) Leaders follow the philosophy of empathy: " Don't do to others what you would not want them to do to you. Losers follow the philosophy: " Do it to others before they do it to you".
20) Leaders make it happen. Losers let it happen.

I think this sums up perfectly why, if we truly want to achieve success in business or in our home based businesses, we must follow the leader. If you want to succeed in your own home based business and don't know where to start, feel free to send me an email: reginaosei@gmail.com

How a Real Work-At-Home Mom is Achieving Real Success in YTB

I never knew that I was a late bloomer, but I am. I married my dream husband late in life. Four years later, the greatest miracle occured...Cion Alexandria Osei was born! When Cion entered our lives, I had been accustomed to working in Corporate America and in full-time ministry. After Cion was born, my life changed drastically. I immediately became a work-at-home Mom, who, thankfully before too long began achieving success in YTB.

Traveling has always been a passion of mine and in my past corporate jobs, ministry work and overseas missions, I had been blessed to travel quite a lot. So when my friend approached me with the idea of getting into a travel business, the travel part was a no brainer. It was the business part that I balked at.

YTB is both a travel business and a network marketing company. In my mind, it was little more than "sales" and I hated sales. I was also completely unprepared and unwilling to invest $500 in another business opportunity. I had invested too much in past ventures that I did absolutely nothing with. But there was something different about YTB. The way my friend spoke about the company, the founders, their integrity and most of all the travel products, travel benefits, perks and commissions... I was compelled. After about a month, my husband and I joined YTB.

We joined YTB for many reasons, first of which is that YTB is a great company. More than this, it's a really great company for a WAHM. First, because there is no pressure. YTB doesn't have timelines or quotas you must fulfil. You can work at your own pace and on your own schedule. Second, YTB just makes sense. If you're going to travel anyway and if you know people who travel, it makes sense to earn commissions on that travel. It also makes sense to travel wholesale, to save on your taxes AND to get paid a referral fee when sharing this great business and these benefits with others. Third, YTB is 100% turnkey. You don't even need computer skills to succeed in YTB! YTB makes it easy for WAHMs because they do the difficult work for you. Fourth, YTB rewards you on activity and on results! YTB has a $6,000 guarantee program that rewards you on activity even if you have no results. But YTB also rewards you very hansomely based on results. Earning an extra $500 or $1,000 or more a week can be a tremendous boost to the average family's household, especially when one member is a WAHM!

After I joined YTB, my first goal was to get rid of the $50 monthly maintenance fee. This was the first area that I started achieving success in YTB. After one month of being an RTA and sharing the business with my family and friends, many of whom also loved and joined YTB, our maintenance fee was reimbursed, thus giving us a 100% debt-free business. Our greatest successes in YTB came initially from our warm market, but by our fifth month in the business, we had begun marketing heavily using fliers and postcards and had started a small amount if marketing online... all that resulted in our earning our very first $1,000 bonus! Since then we've had lots of other people join our business from all around the USA, have earned additional bonuses and have had opportunities to take advantage of some of the great travel perks. One of my favorites was last Summer when I spent 5-days at a Sandals resort in Jamaica that I've always dreamed of visiting, at the unbelievable price of only $99. YTB has been good to us, but the best part is that I'm still a WAHM. I feel so blessed just to stay home with our now 20-month-year-old toddler and be able to spend quality time teaching and bonding with her during these very important early years.

Being a work-at-home-mom for me has been a joy. Our successes we attribute to God's grace that rests upon our TEAM. We have an awesome team that includes our upline, downline and even our crossline, and we meet weekly on our "Keeping It Real" conference call where we all brainstorm, share information, train and plan our marketing strategies. On our TEAM, we have the absolute best marketing and graphic design professionals available. Visit our graphic designer's website here. Visit my website by clicking HERE to learn more about YTB.

So this is my story.
I am a real work-at-home mom who is achieving real success in YTB. Have I gone as far as I desire? Absolutely not! I still have many goals that I'm working towards realizing one day, one step at a time. The good news is that I have the time to achieve them because I am in YTB for the long haul. If I can assist you or answer any questions you have, please feel free to call or send me a note. I will gladly tell you whatever I know about how to succeed in YTB... what works and what definitely does not work. I can also help you to overcome some of the challenges in YTB because I've had to overcome them myself. If you're a WAHM or if you're a stay-at-home-mom and you WANT TO BE a WAHM or work-at-home-mom, let my story encourage you. If I can do this, absolutely anybody can.
