GET YOUR YTB SUCCESS by FOCUSING on BUSINESSES
What is YTB SUCCESS, and What makes a person successful in YTB? Many network marketers will tell you that in order to be successful in YTB or any MLM business, you must run through the numbers. "It's a numbers game." While this statement has some truth in it, it's not the whole truth. Running through the numbers means sharing the business concept with everybody without exception and without judgement. While this is a strategy that works for many, I tend to believe that you can slightly alter that strategy and have greater success by FOCUSING on the RIGHT numbers which equals the RIGHT people.
Have you ever heard the saying, "I'm looking for those who are looking for me"? You might not have known it at the time, but what the person who said this has actually done is given you the keys to your YTB Success! Look for those who are looking for you! So WHO is looking for you? Think about it success breeds success. People who are already successful in business tend to affiliate with others who are likeminded: other business people.
Your success in YTB could depend on your affiliation with others who, like you, are business minded, and most business minded people are business owners. Here is a step-by-step approach that I've successfully implemented with business owners that might also consider:
1. List Your Business Prospects. Go through the Yellow Pages of your phonebook or business directory and make a list of prospects. Choose businesses that tend to have lots of traffic.
2. Call for an Appointment. Call and get the name of the owner or manager of the business and speak to them. Tell them that you have a business proposal to discuss with them and ask for an appointment to meet with them.
3. Use Your HOOK. Remember, business people are BUSY. In your first few seconds on the phone with them, you need to give them a compelling reason to meet with you. This is where your hook comes in. My assumption is that business people are in general all money-motivated at some level, so my hook will more than likely always involve something related to their bottom line. For example, you may say something like this: "If I can show you how to add an extra $50,000 to your bottom line in the next 12 months would you be interested?" Sometimes, I'll also add the phrase..."without your having to do anything any different", and it seems to work well.
4. Share your USP in 30 min or Less! Consider each meeting with a business owner or manager as the meeting of a lifetime. Go into that meeting prepared to tap into a GOLDMINE because very likely you will be. You should have the unique selling points about your BUSINESS and YOUR business carefully woven throughout your presentation.
5. Show them The Benefits One critical aspects of your meeting will be to show the benefits of your business. As we know, every person listens to the radio station WIIFM (What's In It For Me) so you need to be prepared to share THE BENEFITS of being in your business. Remember: features describe the attributes of a product or service. Benefits explain the value of those features to the person. Top it all off by sharing the end result which will let them how their life will ultimately improve.
6. Share Your Marketing Strategy One thing you want to do with busy business people is to take the guesswork and the fear that "I don't have time to do this" out of the minds of the people you will be presenting to. How do you do this? By sharing your marketing stragegy and plan for promoting what you are offering. If you can show them how this will be a virtually effortless process for them, you are more likely to get them onboard.
7. Take your 3rd Party Endorsements With You A very important part of any presentation is your 3rd party endorsement. They can be in the form of someone in your upline (Sponsor, PowerTeam Leader, Director, etc.) or a testimonial found in the Success From Home magazines, Circle of Champions DVD, etc. It's always great to share the testimonial or story of someone who is similar to the person you are presenting to so they can more closely relate.
These are the seven basic steps for promoting your business to business people. For more information about this strategy, more specifics on what to say when you meet or how to make the strategy work with your business prospects, contact Regina Osei.

Choosing the Best Person to Become a YTB REP
Listed on every YTB website’s homepage and at every presentation is the following statement: The YTB companies offer two unique and powerful opportunities, that of referring travel agent or "RTA" and that of independent marketing representative or "REP". The travel agent opportunity has an initial fee under $500 and a monthly license fee of $49.95. There is no fee or travel agency purchase required to be a REP. You may choose to participate in one or both opportunities.
These statements leave no room for doubt that both opportunities (the one requiring payment and the one with no payment requirement) are available for peopple who want to secure a position in YTB. However, I must caution you here. While it is allowable for people to join your business free as REPS, it is not advisable to allow just anybody to do so. I suggest carefully screening anyone who wants to join your business as a REP and making this the EXCEPTION rather than the RULE.
One might ask, if you can join YTB for free, WHY would anybody want to pay? To understand this, you need to understand the differences between the two businesses. In the simplest terms, RTAs sell travel and can enjoy the benefits of traveling as an insider and receiving 60% of the travel commissions for any travel booked on their website. REPs, on the other hand, sell the YTB travel and E-commerce stores, and benefit from one of the best referral marketing programs in the industry.
As you build your YTB business, you will inevitably encounter people who will want to join as REPs. This article is written to help you identify the qualities to look for and the things to do as your prospects join either of your YTB business opportunities, but especially to help you discern those who would be most effective as YTB REPs.
First, the ideal REP is highly self-motivated. Motivation is key because it grows out of desire, and desire is connected to a person’s “WHY”. Self motivation is important so you don’t have to keep them pumped up. When a REP is self-motivated, they will take the initiative to market and promote their new business. Plus, anyone who is highly motivated is more inclined to follow the system.
Second, a good REP is a leader. It doesn't matter whether it is in a community organization, religious organization or otherwise. What matters is that leaders exhibit characteristics like determination, perseverance, charisma, good communication skills and good people skills. Leaders also have influence with other people, and if they are well organized and assertive, they are likely to use all these skills to build a profitable business.
Third, a REP must be coachable and teachable. This is vitally important because success in any network marketing company DEPENDS on duplication and following a system. Unfortunately, many REPs join YTB without committing to the YTB systems: making lists, hosting travel parties, attending business opportunity meetings, 3-way calling and using the tools (sizzle and validation calls, magazines, website presentations, conference calls, etc.).
When a REP who fails to meet this standard joins your business, too often disappointment and discouragement follow. To help prevent this and ensure your REP’s success consider doing the following BEFORE they join:
1. Pre-qualify all prospects via a phone or personal interview before allowing them to join your business. Joining your business should be a privilege, not a right. In the same way that Bill Gates would never hire anyone to work for Microsoft without an interview; you should also interview your potential business partners.
2. Discuss their motivation and their goals. More important that skill or technique is motivation and desire. You should determine and/or help them to discover their “Why” for joining YTB in general and your business in particular. Without knowing their goals, you cannot support them in achieving them. Knowing their goals helps to establish your course in dealing with them.
3. Discuss both of your expectations of each other. When people know and clearly understand what is expected of them, they will more often than not attempt to live up to those expectations. If you fail to share your expectations, you have nothing to complain about when they fail to meet them.
4. Reinforce the benefits of and discuss a timeline for upgrading. The people who join your business as a REPs should not only plan to build a business but also have a timeframe and plan to upgrade to RTA status. REPs that have no plans to upgrade, are not motivated to work the business and SHOULD NOT be allowed to join your business. When REPs do upgrade, they not only reap the full array of RTA benefits, but also enjoy the additional credibility of sharing a product with others that they also believed in enough to have purchased for themselves.

How to Host A Great YTB Travel Party
It's no secret that one of the most effective and successful ways of building your YTB business is by hosting travel parties. The week that you join YTB, you should plan to host your very first, and call it your "Grand Opening"! Every business launch is with a grand opening, and the launch of your new travel and E-commerce business should be no different. Indeed, if you want to really kick it into high gear, you should host two or three grand openings. This way, you make it more possible for your friends, family members and other associates to be able to support you by attending.
So, now that you're sold on having your YTB Grand Opening or Travel (or Vacation) Party, what next?
First, you need to decide when to have the party. To try and accommodate different schedules, especially if you will host more than one, you may want to consider different days of the week and different times of the day. It really doesn't matter as long as you accommodate your guests schedules. That's another advantage to hosting your parties at different times and on different days of the week. Whenever you decide to have it, have fun with it and give it interesting names to peak the interest of your potential guests. For example, you might want to name your party, depending on when you host it, a "Sunday Brunch" party, a "Super Saturday" party, an "Afternoon Delight" party or a "Mid-day Madness" party. Be creative and have fun with it!
Have lots of YTB materials on display and available for handouts. Use YTB magazines, Success magazines, YTB business cards, post cards and any other YTB and travel promotional materials. Your guests should have information that they can take with them about your business when they leave the party.
Next, decide on your party theme. Travel is such a fun product that you won't have any trouble thinking of a great theme. When you're thinking of a theme, think "FUN" and "ENGAGING" but not "EXPENSIVE". You can choose a country, a holiday, a special event like a wedding or engagement or even a cultural celebration. You could even build your theme around a time of year like "Tax Season" or a particular trip that the group you invite to attend will be taking. For example, if your group is planning on taking a "Mystery Train Trip", you can build on that theme by asking participants to bring an item related to the theme or to represent a character. Whatever you do, by having a theme that you communicate to guests, you may be able to get guests more engaged and committed to attending. To help communicate your theme at the party, you can get free travel magazines from most travel vendors or local agencies. These along with some of your personal travel photos and treasures can be used as display items. Remember, your imagination is your only limit.
Who will you invite? This is easy. Apart from inviting your friends, neighbors, church members, work collegues and former or current classmates, use your memory jogger to identify others. For example, you want to include: People who love to travel, people who are ambitious, people who are in sororities, fraternaties, civic and/or social clubs, people you know who hold leadership roles or positions and people that you do or have done business with among others. In other words, invite everyone you know and ask for referrals so you can invite them as well.
Where should your party be held? Ideally, you will host your first party in your home. Since you are inviting the people closest to you, inviting them to join you in your home creates a sense of intimacy. You especially want your family and friends to feel "at home" and comfortable because if they do, they are more likely to be more open to hearing and receiving the information you share with them about your business. However, if you choose to use another venue, the options are virtually endless. You can use a hotel, community center, library, restaurant or any other space where you will not have noise or other distractions.
Try not to put a lot of emphasis on food. When it comes to a party to celebrate your business, less is more, so streamline your offerings. Depending on the time of day and the theme, you may want to have fresh fruit and nuts or chips and dip or coffee and cake. Whatever you decide, you need to keep it simple. In any network marketing business, the key to your success is your ability to be duplicatable. Remember, your guests are also potential future business partners. You want them to see what you do and how you do it, relative to your party, as being something that they can also do. This is critical to your success because duplication is also critical.
Now for the nuts and bolts of the presentation.
Focus on making sure that your party is short, sweet and fun. The travel party should last no longer than an hour and a half at most. When you begin, start with welcoming remarks and introductions. You may want to provide nametags for your guests if they don't all know one another. As part of your introductions, you can help to establish a vacation mindset by asking your guests to close their eyes and envision their dream vacation. Paint a picture for them that will invite them to use all their five senses as they use their imagination. Ask one or two of your guests to share their dream vacation with the group.
The Opening.
When you begin, start by welcoming your guests, thanking them for coming and by telling them why they are there. If it is for your Grand Opening, remind them that they are there to celebrate with you the start of a brand new and exciting chapter of your life.
You may also want to begin by sharing your story. This story can be about you and what motivated and excited you about the business... your "Why". You could have a photo of your "Why" on display to help showcase the real and very important reasons you are in the business to begin with. Remember, your "Why" is your emotional reason for being in the business. Every successful network marketer has a big why. We say, in YTB, that "If your WHY doesn't make you CRY, your WHY isn't big enough. Be sure to have and communicate something about your "Why". You can also share someone else's story or allow the "Circle of Champions" DVD to do that for you. Remember, facts tell but stories sell.
When you get ready to do your presentation, let the DVDs do the work for you of selling them on the business. The DVD found in the "Success at Home" magazine is great. Also, playing the testimonials of one or two of the people found in the Circle of Champions DVD is also beneficial. At the conclusion of the presentation, you simply need to close.
The Close.
In your close, start by reinterating the benefits of YTB: Travel, Tax, Financial Rewards unlike any other business of its kind. Then, explain that after seeing the presentation, you are going to ask everyone in the room to make a decision about where they see themselves. Using a number system, with 1 being people who liked what they saw want their own travel and E-commerce business or 2 = people who like what they saw but prefer to only be your customers. Go around the room and allow each person to tell you his or her preference. You should have printed out travel business forms that your new business partners (#1) will complete. Ideally, if you have someone to assist you, you can go ahead and get their business websites set up, schedule an orientation for them and get on their calendar for their Grand Opening. For your new customers, you should also request that they assist you by hosting travel parties in their home for you. Be sure to follow-up with them to schedule a date.
To make the Grand Opening even more fun, you may want to have some vacation vouchers on hand that you reward your new business partners with. Just be creative, but most of all, have lots of fun!
Have a fantastic YTB Travel Party!

20 More Great YTB Travel & Other Business Building Ideas
Need more creative business building ideas? Check these out! These are great business building ideas, thanks to a contributer at WAHM!
1. Contact local small companies and shops to see if you can offer exclusive discounts or FREEBIES to their employees. Companies are always looking for ways to "treat" their employees to specials from the local and surrounding community.
2. Small Home Town Newspapers! Big newspaper ads tend to be costly, and they may not give you too good of a response, so try targeting small town newspapers! Many times you will get a great response. Some may even allow you to place your ad on their wedding and engagement announcements page which allows YTB RTAs to promote your Honeymoon & Bridal Registry in their newspaper.
So if you are going to do any type of newspaper advertising, inquire about getting your ads on specific pages in the newspaper that targets the group of people you are most likely to attract.
3. Get a low cost outdoor banner and some signs printed up with an eye-catching slogan and your business information on it. You can usually get them done reasonably priced.
You can have these outdoor banners displayed at outdoor concerts, picnics, church fairs, family and class reunions, outdoor children’s sporting events, outdoor adult sports events, outdoor neighborhood block parties, outdoor community events, carnivals, fairs, festivals, etc.
The smaller signs can also be posted strategically in high-traffic areas, near interstates, highways and more.
4. Take your business on the road during nice weather. Contact local area parks & community centers to see what their schedule of events are and inquire about setting up a booth or table.
This is a great way to network & market your business to those in your community.
5. Community Clipper Coupon Packs & Sales Flyer Mailings. These days a lot of communities have mailings such as these, contact them and see how you can participate and market your business.
6. Contact small local area businesses such as hair salons, massage parlors, boutiques, banks etc.
See if you can set up a table for 1 week. During this week, promote three of your best selling travel specials such as the Spa Vacations found on your YTB website, and include your fliers, business cards and other information. Put a basket on the table with a sign behind it asking for business cards from anyone interested in a home-based business. Be sure to follow up on these later. Offer the store owner or manager a free gift for allowing you to do this.
You can also offer to donate a prize for a contest if they let you display the prize donated & get a copy of the contestants entry blanks after the promotion closes.
7. Contact local area pizza shops, diners, deli's and coffee bagel shops to ask them about promoting your business on their paper placemats! Believe it or not, customers really do read these ads!
8. Contact local area restaurants and clubs to inquire about promoting your business on their paper beverage coasters!
9. Local Television Stations are always holding on-air contests & website contests for their viewers. Contact them about donating a vacation or cruise voucher to sponsor one of their contests! This will be GREAT business exposure for you!
10. Attend Local Area holiday shopping events. Customers who are ready to spend holiday shopping money turn out for these events by the thousands! Depending on where they are held you can usually get a booth for a reasonable price, and if they are a bit pricey, go in with others in your TEAM to make them more economical to participate in!
11. Host a Community Block Party on your street or at a local community center! Families are always looking for something to do during the nice weather seasons!
Optional: Attend your neighborhood block party and set up a table with information about your business and fliers outlining some of the specials you are offering. Get out there in your community and get your business seen!
12. Get your business listed in your cities telephone book yellow pages! Many of them also have a coupon section too!
13. You can take this phone book advertising one step further by finding out what company makes the plastic vinyl phone book covers which have local business ads on them and get your business added to it as well!
14. Get your business information printed up on pencils and hand them out to local colleges and technical schools for them to hand out to their adult students! This keeps your business information in front of them! (Make sure you only donate them to schools with adult students).
15. Get a vehicle banner made for your automobile. Options include the vinyl window clings or vinyl car magnets that stick to your automobile. These are good because they don’t scratch or remove the paint, and you can easily remove them when washing your vehicle!
16. If your city has a travel guide that tourists request, contact that business and find out how you can get your business included in it too!
17. Local City Maps! These days even city maps have advertising on them! You can usually get a small business ad printed on them for an economical price. Be sure to include your website address, email address and business phone number.
18. Contact local area hotels, motels and bed & breakfast inns. Ask them if you can make up a Lobby Basket and leave it in their Lobby.
What is a Lobby Basket? You make up little packs of info about your business & products and put them into the Lobby Basket for their patrons to take.
They usually have a pamphlet wall or area for pamphlets from local area attractions etc. If they don’t have a lobby basket area, inquire about leaving your business info in their pamphlet area.
19. Get your business info printed up on balloons! This is very economical to do! You then distribute them to local community centers, sporting events and other types of places where parents book their children’s birthday parties!
These balloons can be displayed at the birthday party giving you business exposure. You can usually get them done for .3-.8 cents each. Your business name & website address is all you need on them!
20. Team up with your TEAM or find a few other self-employed business owners in your community and team up! You can all sponsor a local parade float, parade clowns etc. Make up signs with your business info imprinted on them so that you can receive some great business exposure during the parade!
